Midwives' Day at Sheynovo marked by awards and a new campaign

Hospital Sheynovo celebrated Midwives' Day in the company of many employees, partners and journalists on January 21, 2010. A traditional pagan ritual took place at the hospital's building - washing ofthe hands of the director and the main midwife of Sheynovo. After the ceremony was held a conference for journalists.
Dr. Kostow, director of Sheynovo, presented the results of the last year:the hospital ended with positive financial results and the hightest number of births fpor 2010 - total 4050 babies. At Sheynovo  were made 1407 "caesareans" and was given birth to 104 twins and 21 triplets. Sheynovo made an investment totaling around 1 million invested in the puchase of quality medical supplies and repair.
At the press conference the director of Sheynovo revealed future plans for development. "We have set ambitious goal to keep our leading position among obstetrics and gynecology hospitals in Bulgaria, not only as medical results, but financial stability.", said Dr. Kostov. "We will rely on new methods of diagnosis and prevention of various diseases and also will start campaignagainst smoking during pregnancy and lactation", he added.
During the event were named Doctor and two Midwives of the Year of Sheynovo, namely Dr. Antonia Kovacheva and midwives Maria Velichkova and Maria Dimitrova. Biohellenica Bulgaria, a company for stem cells storage, together with Sheynovo hospital awarded "Baby of the Year" with adiploma and a check worth 1000 BGN. At the end of the celebration, Dr. Kostov suprisingly received the award for "Best Health Manager 2010".
Another participant at the event, along with Biohellenica, were Phillips AVENT, who made material donations to support the natural nutrition of infants (chairs for nursing, pediatric rastomer and Phillips Sonicare brushes). Sheynovo hospital has still a successful partnership with University Hospital St. Ekaterina, Military Medical Academy and University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine.
